Hex Security (DIN 7967)
Equivalent Standard: UNI 8835
Pal nuts are made to DIN 7967 and most commonly referred to as a Counter Nut, stamped sheet metal Check-Nuts or self locking Counter Nuts.
These locknuts are made from a spring-like steel which allows them to distort under load pressure, before returning to their original shape in the threaded area.
They are very lightweight and host a low profile and the ability to be tightened with an internal wrench or fingers. This provides a vibration resistant locking action whilst remaining usable in small and tricky areas suffering from space restrictions.
Pal Nuts or Counter Nuts are manufactured as standard in Steel Galvanised, Steel Zinc, Self Colour and A2 or A4 Stainless Steel, with other materials also available.

DIN 7967
Metric DIN 7967 Self-Locking Counter Nuts PAL are stamped nuts with internal teeth/barbs that function to grip the threads of a mating bolt/screw. It can be used by itself as a nut to assemble lightweight parts that are not subject to great axial forces. Alternatively it can be used in combination with regular hex nuts to function as a jam nut that when tightened against the primary nut the assembly is firmly secured in place and resists loosening by vibrational forces. Tightening the counter nut against the primary nut cause the internal teeth / barbs of the counter nut to distort and bite into the threads of the bolt, locking both the counter nut and the primary nut into place. BRK Industries offers the following sizes for immediate delivery from stock: Diameters ranging from M4 to M27 and available in A2 and marine grade A4 stainless steel.
